Restore Hope for the Abdus-Shakoor's

Donation protected
As we discuss the historical importance of black homeowners in Altadena, we want to share the story of our grandparents. Aaron and Delores Abdus-Shakoor have lived in Altadena for over 40 years, and unfortunately, they have lost their legacy to the Eaton wildfire.

The memories of Birthdays, Thanksgiving dinners, and all of our precious moments together as a family have been destroyed by this tragedy. In all their years of living in Altadena, they have been pillars of the community. My grandfather has spent decades working hard to establish a black-owned real estate business, Shakoor Realty, and my grandmother dedicated over 30 years of working at the PUSD. Together, they were a part of a group of black Muslims who founded and created Masjid Al Taqwa. It has been heartbreaking for our family to see them lose it all to the fire.

Your contributions will help them through this challenging time. We hope that the kindness they’ve shown will be returned to them. Please keep them in your prayers and donate if possible—anything helps!
