In less than a year, Acapulco has been devastated by two of the most destructive storms in Mexico’s recent history—Hurricane Otis (2023) and Hurricane John (2024). These back-to-back hurricanes have left the people of Acapulco facing unimaginable destruction and loss. Otis, with winds reaching 165 mph, tore through the region, and John followed, causing even more devastation.

Our team had already built an entire community, but the torrential rains brought by Hurricane John flooded the area dropping nearly a year’s worth of rainfall in just a few days.
