Rebuild Hope for Kevin and Donna Jane

My name is Hailey, today February 26th on Vinalhaven, Maine, my dear friends and neighbors Kevin and Donna Jane lost their home due to an electrical fire. The Vinalhaven and North Haven Fire department did their best at trying to put the fire out but it continued to spread from room to room. Kevin and Donna Jane bought this home about a year ago. After almost a year of moving their belongings up to Maine from Pennsylvania, they just recently started to settle in. In the afternoon on Feb 26th, the fire broke out on their front porch (where the electrical box was located), Kevin was inside, upstairs, when his 2 cats came running upstairs in distress. When Kevin went down stairs to see what was going on, he saw his porch on fire, he began to escape and his hat caught fire and his hand got burnt. He was lucky enough to make it out alive and without serious injuries. Donna Jane was on a nature hike when she returned home and saw her house on fire and all the municipal departments working to put this fire out and to aid her husband who got burned. I can only imagine how traumatic this was and is for Kevin and Donna Jane. Their current situation is that they have just lost their 2 cats, everything they own and their home to this fire. Like things couldn’t be any worse, they currently have no house insurance, as they were waiting to get settled and working on the island so they could afford insurance on their home. Now they have nothing but the clothes on their back and what they can salvage in the house, after the fire department deems it safe enough to enter. This is such a devastating tragedy that took place. Kevin and Donna Jane are such nice people, friends and neighbors. I created this fundraiser in hopes we can all bring it together to help them get back on their feet. Thank you for donating, any amount helps

UPDATE: as I previously stated that this was an electrical fire, the fire marshal discovered it was due to wood stove ash in a bucket that had not completely went out after being discarded from the wood stove. I apologize for the miscommunication. I have expressed to Kevin and Donna all the love and support that they are receiving through the community and this fundraiser they are in tears of gratefulness and are very thankful for everyone.
