Rebuild Hope for Michael A. and His Family

Hi there, most of you know me as BrattyKat, or Kara. I've known Shart for about a year now, and unfortunately, I am too many miles away from him to offer my help physically, but this I can do.

If you look up the damage Hurricane Milton did to the Tampa Bay area, you will find that its destructive surge mostly spared that area. But not everyone was that lucky. Our friend Michael A., known as Explosive Shart to his online friends, was one of those who wasn't lucky.

The single-family house that he and his mom owned and lived in was destroyed. In a matter of hours, the 180 mph winds tore off the roof from over 75% of the house, allowing the rain in; and as it continued to pour over the next couple of days, they ended up with inches of rain sitting there, soaking into the floor and drywall, ruining everything.

They waited out the worst of it in his bedroom, loaded up their cars with the most important things, and went to his aunt's house, who lives 2 miles down the road. He has been there the last couple of days waiting for power to be restored to both houses. It isn't ideal, but it works.

Where to go from here is unknown at this point. The belief is that the house is a lost cause. What we are trying to do is raise money to help him out. To buy clothing, food, storage, there are so many things right now that he and his mom need.

Shart is a former member of the Army, and has been a pillar in our local Rust community, creating custom maps and monuments for others to use. He has run his own server for the last 10+ years, offering a safe place for his friends and the community to play the game. We hope to give back to him since he has given so much to us.
