Rebuild Island Scoops, A Bradenton Beach Landmark
Donation protected
As the longest-standing ice cream parlor on Bradenton Beach, Island Scoops has been a cherished part of the island community for over 20 years. We take pride in being a family-owned business, dedicated to investing in the youth of our community from the very beginning. Our wonderful staff has included students from all local high schools, such as Manatee High, Bayshore, Bradenton Christian, St. Stephens, and Inspiration Academy. Since 2020, we've also operated the Island Donut Company, located on Historic Bridge Street in Bradenton Beach.
This summer we decided to remodel Island Scoops, merging both shops into one. This transformation enhances our beloved creamery to become a full-service café and coffee shop. After an extensive remodel, we celebrated our grand opening on September 2nd. We faced challenges during Tropical Storm Debbie, where we dealt with flooding and subsequently installed all-new hardwood floors after addressing the water damage. As Hurricane Helene approached, we prepared for what we thought would be similar to Tropical Storm Debbie. However, Hurricane Helene turned out to be unlike any storm our area had experienced, resulting in significant destruction to our shop.
For our family, our staff, and our community, we are committed to rebuilding. This reconstruction will require purchasing new equipment and restoring the shop's interior, including electrical and plumbing work, walls, floors, counters, lighting, seating, signage, and more. Although we had contents insurance, it may only cover a small fraction of the costs needed to fully equip a brand-new creamery, café, and coffee shop. This Go Fund Me campaign is initiated to support our rebuilding efforts, as the sooner we can reopen, the sooner we can generate income for our incredible staff and give back to the wonderful community that means so much to us.
