Rebuild Keefers
Donation protected
On August 17th, 2023, a disaster struck Keefers, a community that has been the very embodiment of refuge and blessing for so many. 5 homes were lost. Wildfires reduced all but two homes to ashes. These residents have lost everything. Even in the midst of everything the men went back in to fight the fire and spot fires popping up around the area.
Keefers was never just a collection of buildings; it was a living legacy. It has been a hub of family and friendship, a place of healing and rest, and the source of so many incredible, life-changing memories for hundreds of people through the years. It was where laughter filled the air, where hands joined in work and play, and where hearts found peace.
The physical loss is staggering: homes, workshops, communal spaces, even a business of farming organic garlic—all gone in a terrifying instant. But the emotional loss, the vacuum left behind, is something that can't be quantified.
Yet, in the face of this profound loss, we see hope. We see a path to healing and rebuilding, but we need your support.
There's no insurance to cushion this blow. The task of resurrecting Keefers is monumental, but it's not insurmountable. With your help, we can rebuild not just the structures but the vibrant spirit that made Keefers so special.
This fund is more than a plea for financial assistance; it's an invitation to be part of a resurgence of compassion, resilience, and community. It's a chance to restore a place that has been a sanctuary for so many.
Please join us in this essential endeavour. Share this campaign, contribute what you can, and let's stand together to ensure that the legacy of Keefers lives on.
These funds will go to any and all aspects of what it takes to rebuild. Alternative ways to donate are through rebuildkeefers.square.site and e-transfers to [email redacted].
There were 7 families living permanently in Keefers, 5 of which lost all their belongings. If you want to give specifically to any one family, please contact us at rebuildkeefers.com and we can give you direction on how to do that.
Your support means more than words can express. Together, we can rise from these ashes, rebuilding this extraordinary community.
Thank you for believing in Keefers.
