Rebuild Ken's Retirement After Tragic Fire

I am asking for help on behalf of my father, Ken, and his partner Karen, who have been dealt a significant blow to their livelihood and retirement. A devastating freak fire burned down their garage and guest house last night, wiping out their sources of income and postponing their retirement even further.

My father is a lifelong master carpenter who built the home I grew up in and countless others. He continues to work into his 60s to support himself and his partner, but with all of his tools lost in the fire, he has nothing to work with. When he wasn't working for customers, he was remodeling the upstairs of their garage into a guest house, which was nearing completion and intended to serve as an additional income source. With no tools and no apartment to rent out, it will be very difficult for Ken & Karen to make ends meet, and true retirement will be postponed further.

In their off time, Ken & Karen enjoy camping, fishing, boating, hiking, and other outdoor activities. All of their recreational gear, including a new engine for their small boat, was also ruined in the fire. Truly, this is insult to injury, as now they can't seek solace in their favorite pastimes following this tragedy.

I am very grateful that my Dad, Karen, their two dogs, and their home and vehicles were left unscathed. They wisely were insured and have immaculate records of the remodel work they were doing. However, getting insurance to pay out can take years. They have already met their small deductible, with which Dad will obtain a few essential tools to get back to as much work as possible.

I come to GoFundMe to seek anything from kind friends, family, and strangers that can help my Dad and Karen recover any amount of what has been lost. Funds raised here will go towards both items lost in the fire and their affected income to cover living expenses while the insurance gets sorted out.
