Rebuild Life Farms: Support Organic Farming in Clearwater
Donation protected
For over 10 years now, Life Farms has endeavored to provide nutrient-dense (and clean) food, loving service, and education to our local community. 2024's hurricane season significantly impacted our ability to continue to do so. Indeed, the storms put us in a position where we really had to consider whether or not to continue as a farm. The community is what kept us going. The outpouring of support from our community in the wake of Hurricane Milton (in the form of dozens of volunteers who helped us clear, clean, and replant every crop) is what ultimately bolstered our confidence to continue our mission. Now, more than ever, we are committed to being one of the few sources of organic, local vegetables in the greater Tampa Bay area.
The 3 major storms affected every aspect of our farm - numerous critical structures were damaged, 3 successive plantings were wiped out, dozens of trees were felled.
Despite these major setbacks, we remain committed to providing our community with clean, nutritious food - but we can't do it without your help. It will take considerable funding to get the farm back in working order. Any donation, no matter the amount, will make a big difference in helping us rebuild.
In particular, your donation will directly contribute to:
- Rebuilding the packing house (where we clean and process vegetables)
- Re-covering the nursery (where we grow our seedlings)
- Rebuilding 6 tunnels (where our vegetables grow to maturity)
- Rebuilding our worm bins (where we cultivate worms for clean compost and healthy soil)
- Removing and replacing our felled fruit trees
Our hearts are already so full given the outpouring of volunteer support we have experienced following the storms. Because of this support, and your donation, we hope that Life Farms can continue to feed our community. Thank you.
