Rebuild Lily's Home and Life Post-Hurricane
Donation protected
As Hurricane Helene swept through Western North Carolina, a small community just North of Asheville watched floodwaters rise to unimaginable heights. People in Barnardsville thought the worst had passed when the weather calmed and the flood waters began to recede. When the full force of Hurricane Helene's wind and rain returned as the eye of the storm passed, sheltered residents witnessed the tearing down of trees, landslides, and rapid floodwaters which swept away homes, and nearly all the infrastructure leaving everyone without power and no connection to the outside world.
One of these people is my friend Lily. Lily's home in was left unlivable, and the vast majority of her belongings in a storage facility were destroyed by flood waters. If you have anything to give, please consider pitching in to help Lily raise funds to replace her home and belongings. Her home was swept off its foundation and left lying in the mud. The floors need replacing and many of her belongings were ruined. The thousands of dollars worth of art supplies, furniture, and sentimental belongings she kept in storage, hoping to one day have the space for again, were all destroyed as 6-8 feet of floodwaters entered the already cramped space of her storage unit.
Any donations you are able to contribute will first go toward rebuilding her home on a permanent foundation raised higher above the river. Once she has rebuilt her home, any funds leftover will hopefully help ease the transition while she rebuilds the rest of her life.
