On August 18th and 19th, a devastating flash flood struck the Naugatuck River region, leaving many families displaced and in need of urgent assistance.

Norman Plude, a resident of Seymour, Connecticut, who's home sits directly on the Naugatuck River was among those severely impacted by this natural disaster. His home, located on Derby Avenue, was situated on a breakout channel that unexpectedly formed behind his property. The high-flow waters carried debris, trees, and other dangerous materials through his yard, undermining the river channel and causing significant damage.

Norman lost several vehicles, including those essential for his livelihood as a hemp farmer. The flood also compromised the structural integrity of his outbuildings and small farm equipment. The potential damage to his home's foundation and the overall impact of this disaster have left Norman facing an uncertain future.

Like many others affected by the flood, Norman was not insured against such a disaster. This means that he is facing the potential of the full financial burden of rebuilding his life. The loss of his vehicles has not only caused financial hardship but has also disrupted his ability to work and provide for himself financially at this time.
