Rebuild ORANGE BARN EVENTS Empowerment Center

Hi, my name is Janet Taylor ️‍, and as many of you (that know me) know that my life mission is to save our children. To bring mass awareness to the Mental Health issues that our children are going through. To keep our children alive, whatever that takes.

To bring massive attention to all, we as young adults, mature adults and older adults are struggling with past unhealed trauma and mental health.

To create a safe, healing and educational space for growth, understanding and skill development.

Empowering generations, past and present, and learning from each other as we grow the community near and far.

Back story: Orange Barn Events suffered significant damage due to a storm our community went through MAY 2022. Much of our fairy forest got ripped apart, but the big barn, my ultimate vision for the Empowerment Centre, sustained irreparable damage and must be taken down.

While tragic for many, we are blessed to be safe and to have only suffered material damages.

This tragedy is also an opportunity for us to build the Orange Barn Empowerment/ Education center sooner. However, I need a lot of financial support for that to happen.

The Barn was knocked down late October 2022. There is still a significant amount of clean-up to be done. We require clean fill, which we are advertising for on-site, gravel and then, healthy soil to cover the site.

Rebuilding would be drafted and planned after site is safely covered. This is a quick overview of some steps towards what Orange Barn Empowerment Centre will look like once completed. First would be the main event space, with a loft, to host a multitude of events for my community. The second would be a greenhouse/kitchen area for a longer growing period here at the farm, which would also provide food for events here, a space for workshops on cooking and a food source for youth and families in need. The final piece is a workshop area with multiple smaller spaces to facilitate trade training, skill development and youth-run activities, training and education on various topics.

It is a huge task ahead to undertake all the pieces needed for this vision to come to fruition... But if you know me, if you know all I have done these last seven or so years, you know that I am up to the task and that this center will be the first of its kind.

Completion of this Centre will empower this local community in strengthening its mental, emotional, physical and spiritual health at many levels for all ages. The ripple effect will be felt worldwide.

Suicide rates are higher than ever in our youth!

Since Covid, suicidal thoughts in female students have risen 44%.

75% of all suicides are males.

The overall stigma around the shame of discussing issues that lead to suicidal thoughts and suicide are growing.

This Centre will be a safe space for difficult conversations to be held. Truth and vulnerability will be modelled and supported.

Together we can end generations of silence.
