Rebuild Shell Isle Mercantile
Donation protected
Hi, the members of the St. Andrew Bay sailing and boating community would like to help newlyweds Chris and Sarah Bourque rebuild and re-launch their unique floating general store for all things beach. Chris runs Anchor Charters, an eco-tour business showcasing the beauty of St. Andrew Bay and Sarah recently retired from many years of nursing to create Shell Island Mercantile. The floating stored was christened in May was moored in a protected pool in the west side of the St. Andrew Bay pass. Unfortunately, a summer stormfront on June 16 wrested the houseboat from where it was nestled, floated it across the bay and, while the Bourques and a friend tried to save it, capsized off Beach Drive in Panama City. All three were rescued, but the store sank.
Shell Island Mercantile is a treasure and a resource for boaters the area, and we’d love to see them back up and running ASAP! Please help as much as you can. These hardworking newlyweds are amazing ambassadors for the wonder that is our St. Andrew Bay waterfront.
