Rebuild Sundra’s home

Hi my name is Elizabeth Fields and I am fundraising to help my sister Sundra Coleman to rebuild what was tragically lost during a fire on Thursday morning 7/7/22.

Early Thursday morning (7/7/22) around 2:30am, my sister, Sundra Coleman, house caught on fire due to the negligence of APD and SWAT apprehending a non-family member due to “Outstanding Warrants.” The home was left to its bare bone due to the fire and chemicals left behind by smoke grenades.

This was a home full of memories with members still healing from past grief. A home that was passed down to my sister by our mother when she passed away in 2017. Our mother was a lady that was adored not only by her 6 children, countless grandchildren, nieces and nephews but also by her community and church family. A home that 3 years later after our mother’s death, encountered more grief when in 2020, Sundra’s middle child unexpectedly passed away. This house was full of memories, belongings, family photographs, a child's funeral military flag, as well as a family dog now gone due to this terrible incident.

My sister along with her son and nephew are now displaced nearly close to being homeless. They have no belongings to call their own. During the standoff, they were removed from the house barefoot and in shock unable to even fathom what would happen next. They stood on the sidelines watching as their family home was dismantled window by window, their front yard tree getting cut down, small puffs of smoke growing into engulfing flames that were finally subdued by the ABQ Fire Dept. Standing along the sidelines, not only did I witness my family home crumble but I also saw a glimpse of my sister battling yet the beginning of another level of grief.

Please help my family and I, temporarily relocate Sundra and her family as well as provide funds for clothing, food, basic living supplies, automotive care (the ignition key was burned down so now she has to special order the key which can start in the $200s).

We pray that APD/SWAT along with the Arson Dept. can take ownership of their act and pay to rebuild our family home in order for Sundra to return to a semi-normal life.
