Help ted and Evelyn get home#helene#disaster help Snake bite

Snakebite Holler, our home place for 43 years, steeped more in rumour and local lore than in actual facts, despite its name we have never seen let alone been bitten by a poisonous snake. What we have seen is far more terrifying. We watched an ancient and amazing river rise to incredible heights and destroy the lives and homes of so many in our community. Even sadder is that many lost their lives. Our bridge, the only access to our home is gone. Even though we had to leave Bakers Acres and relocate we are thankful that we will have a home to return to.
The river stretches eighty feet wide and the cost of rebuilding the bridge to span that distance is far more than what FEMA will provide. We have applied to FEMA and it is clear we will need more assistance to get back home.
The Bridge isn´t just a crossing, it is a connection to the life we built and the memories of raising a family which we cherish.
In the future we hope to continue to share our home and property with family, friends and neighbors. We humbly ask for your support and donations to rebuild the bridge. Your kindness will not just rebuild a bridge it will restore hope and resilience to a community that has weathered this massive event, storm Helene. One day with your help we hope you will come visit us at Bakers Acres. We look forward to seeing you at 132 Snakebite Holler Lane, Burnsville NC 28714
Sincerely,
Ted and Evelyn Baker
