Rebuild The Melville Press After Fire Loss
Donation protected
Accomplished book artist Catherine Kanner of The Melville Press lost both her home and the vast majority of her inventory during the Pacific Palisades fire.
The Melville Press is dedicated to producing fine illustrated limited editions. The Melville Press was born from Kanner's passion for Herman Melville’s work and is devoted to publishing books which capture the spirit of voyaging.
Books of The Melville Press have been collected by individuals, special collections, libraries and institutions in the United States and internationally including The Library of Congress, The New York Public Library, The British Library, The Newberry Library in Chicago, The National Libraries of Australia, New Zealand and Scotland, The Museum of the Book in the Netherlands and by The National Museum of Women in the Arts among others.
Your contributions will help Catherine during this difficult time and help her reprint her most recent work lost in the fire:
EMILY DICKINSON Poems of Travel Earth, Sea, and Air
We learned of Catherine's plight because she was going to be one of the wonderful book artists joining us at Rare Books San Francisco , February 1-2. Due to this tragedy, she will no longer be able to exhibit. Our hearts go out to her and the many people impacted by the devastating wild fires in Southern California.
