URGENT: Help Rebuild and Support East Flat Rock, NC
My name is Ty Townsend, and I own Top Tier Fabrication in East Flat Rock, NC. The recent flood destroyed my machines, and I can’t keep my business running without them. But this isn’t just about my shop – since the disaster, we’ve turned it into a distribution center for the local community. With nearly 60 volunteers, we’ve been cutting trees to give people access to their homes, delivering food to hospitals, and providing essential supplies like water, propane, and gasoline to those who’ve lost everything.
The harsh truth is that no one is coming to help us. It’s just us – neighbors helping neighbors. This is about supporting each other through this difficult time. My story is just one of thousands – a needle in a haystack of people needing help. But if this story touches your heart, I’m asking you to please consider donating. Not only will your contribution help get my shop up and running again, but it will also allow us to continue providing much-needed supplies specific to the individual needs of our community.
We need $25,000 to replace two machines, a control panel, and office equipment destroyed by the flood. Without flood insurance, I cannot recover on my own. Your donation will directly support my business's rebuilding and continued efforts to bring vital supplies to those who need them most.
Every dollar counts, whether you donate or share this post. Thank you for your kindness and generosity—together, we can make a difference for our town.
*Update*
We recently had the opportunity to visit with Ty and see firsthand the situation on the ground. During our visit, we were able to assess the full extent of the need, both at Ty's shop and across the town. We put our hands on the equipment that needs urgent repair and replacement, and we witnessed the damage caused by the flooding. The work the town has already done is impressive, but there's still so much left to rebuild.
The heart of this town is truly incredible, with volunteers, community members, churches, and so much love stepping in to help where they can. However, the reality is that many people will not receive any formal assistance. Most do not have flood insurance, and those who report flood damage may see their insurance claims denied. This leaves so many families without the help they desperately need to rebuild their lives.
Our collective support through this GoFundMe is some of the only financial aid that will reach these people. It will directly help them in their journey to recovery, and for many, it's their only hope for restoring what they've lost.
Thank you for being part of this effort. Your generosity is making a real difference in Ty's life and in the lives of many others in this community.
