Support Yara's Life After Devastating Fire

  Yara is a beloved botanist, land steward, and biodiversity activist who needs help rebuilding her life after losing everything in the Eaton Fire.

 My name is Tin Santos, and Yara is a dear friend of mine. I’m organizing this fundraiser on her behalf. About ten years ago she invited me to take a naturalist course at Eaton canyon, and through her tutelage and passion, I grew to love and learn about the magical ecosystems and indigenous people, plants and geology of the land. 

 Yara lost everything in the Eaton fire - an entire seed library containing cherished native botanical history spanning decades and continents, her gear and equipment, her laptop, and all of her furniture and belongings. She left her home in the middle of the night with literally two sweaters, the clothes on her back, and nothing else. 

 SHE LOST EVERYTHING IN THE FIRE BUT THE CLOTHES ON HER BACK AND HER TRUCK. 

 Yara has been a conservation botanist, horticulturist, & native plant gardener for 16 years. Specializing in pollination ecology, she spent 6 months researching butterflies & parasitism in Costa Rica and was back in LA for only 5 months before the fires struck. I am hoping to raise enough money to help Yara begin to restabilize her life.  

Just before the fires struck, Yara was working towards converting her truck into a home + portable seed library & native plant library. In addition to offsetting expenses beyond those covered by FEMA, private insurance, or other sources of emergency aid, leftover donations will be used to help her complete this vision.
