The unique paradise island of Barbuda in the Caribbean was home to 1800 people, then Hurricane Irma hit in September 2017 and changed everything.

All residents were forced to evacuate to neighbouring island Antigua, amidst total devastation to 90% of the resident's homes, businesses, public buildings and the island's infrastructure our families and friends have lost everything and obviously need help but most importantly they need a plan.

Two Barbudan born US military servicemen; Sean Charles and Mike Harris have a PLAN.

Their mission is to #REBUILDBARBUDA and unite Barbudans on their ancestral island rebuilding the islands infrastructures from the ground up. Their second-to-none military expertise gives them the skills to implement a carefully planned out mission. They already have the backing of the Antigua and Barbuda Government and commitment of more than 100 fellow Barbudans and volunteers from all over the world who want be a part of history: getting the island back on its feet.

“We are willing to do what is necessary to rebuild our ancestral home. The sooner we do this, the better, so that Barbudans can go back, rebuild their lives, send their children to school and start to plan for the future.” Mike Harris

“We attended the Holy Trinity School in Barbuda which has been totally devasted. We migrated to the US and joined the United States Marine Corps, so we know what needs to be done but this time help is needed by our families and friends.” Sean Charles

This is where you can help and its simple: We need to raise money to send a 100-strong team to #REBUILDBARBUDA.

The money will be used to transport the team to and from Barbuda, to provide necessary food and camping gear while on Barbuda and the tools required to rebuild. The #REBUILDBARBUDA Team will have pledged 52 days of their time to finish the task at hand.

Here’s how the PLAN will roll out:

Phase 0 (Now): Preparation. Plan transportation. Secure commitments for donations. Define supply requirements (tents, water, food, fuel, etc.). Establish relationships with NGO and other relief organizations. Clearly define the requirements that will be met by the working party.

Phase 1: Formation (Approximately Dec. 20-23) 100+ able Barbudans will return to the island and construct a tent city for temporary housing for working parties. We will establish logistic channels to ensure food, water, fuel, and all essential items to support the working party. Ensuring health and sanitation for the working party will be the main effort during phase 1.

Phase 2: Mission execution (Appx Dec 27- Feb 26): Sustain logistic chain for the working party. Rebuild Barbuda: The goal: Restore 52 category 1 Houses: 22 category 2 houses: 2 category 3 Houses. The categories refer to the extent of the damage.

Phase 3: Transition to self-sufficiency (Appx Feb 27- March 27): The working party will adapt to meet changing needs of the island.  Members may begin to return to their homes.

We need to give Mike and Sean need all the help and support they can get to put this PLAN in place.

This is the PLAN we have been waiting for to #REBUILDBARBUDA.

Please donate generously and help us make this PLAN a reality.
