Hi, my name is Gerard, and I am representing a huge community of people that want to support our friend Maureen Folan—a truly remarkable woman whose life was turned upside down by the devastation of Storm Éowyn.

Maureen, a widow who lives alone, is known and loved throughout her community for her warmth, generosity, and unshakable kindness. Many of us, myself included, have been blessed by Maureen’s hospitality—whether it was a cup of tea, a big fry after a big night out, her fabulous baking, a kind word, or a helping hand.

She goes above and beyond for everyone, no matter how well she knows them.

Her family home, which has been in her family for generations, was tragically destroyed during the storm. The roof was completely blown off, her belongings were scattered across fields, and the house suffered severe structural damage. It’s hard to overstate the heartbreak of seeing such a cherished place, so full of memories, reduced to rubble.

To make matters even more challenging, due to certain circumstances, insurance isn’t available to cover the costs of rebuilding. That’s where we, as her friends, family, and community, step in.

This campaign is a way for all of us who care about Maureen to come together and help her rebuild—not just a house, but a home.

100% of the funds raised will go directly to Maureen to support her in this journey, ensuring she has the resources to restore her home to the warm, welcoming haven it has always been. This support will include temporary housing, reconstruction, essential supplies, and replacement of other lost damaged and goods.

It is very difficult to set an accurate target for something like this however what we would like to stress is that no contribution is too small, and every little bit helps. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this campaign with your network can also make a huge difference.

Let’s show Maureen the same love and kindness she’s always shown to others and remind her that she’s not alone in this.

Update: All available options are being explored and there has been very positive traction from local council and politicians. As soon as we have visibility into available support and any potential gaps or short fall we will update the target / cease the funding.
