Help the Ang Family Rebuild After Losing Home to Eaton Fire

Donation protected
Hi Friends,

I'm Sue Helen and I grew up in Los Angeles county. It is breaking my heart to see my city on fire.

While I am beyond grateful that my parents, brother, aunt and beloved furbabies have made it out of danger and are safe, we are facing a tremendous loss. Unfortunately, on Wednesday, January 8th we were heartbroken to confirm that our home in Altadena was completely lost in the devastating Eaton Fire. This tragedy has left my family with only the clothes on their backs and the memories of a place we held dear.

My parents are not the type to ask for help. In fact, they’ve always been the ones offering support to others. Over the years, they’ve opened their home to those in need, provided shelter to help people get back on their feet, fostered animals, hosted countless family gatherings, and renovated their home multiple times to create a beautiful space where we could celebrate life’s milestones—including hosting some of their children’s weddings.

It was a beautiful home, and every day, my parents poured their hearts into it. They tended to the yard, cared for hundreds of plants—all of which my mom treated like her children—and my father took on many DIY projects to make it a true sanctuary. I am especially saddened by the loss of my mom’s plants, as they were a reflection of her love, patience, and nurturing spirit. That house was where we had our family meals, game nights, celebrated birthdays, holidays, and so much more. It was a place we could always count on to return to, no matter what life brought our way. In an instant, everything my parents worked so hard to build was destroyed. Being stripped of all our cherished belongings, keepsakes and irreplaceable photos/artwork from childhood is incredibly hard to bear. It is overwhelming to witness all of the small businesses and restaurants we frequently visited face the same tragedy. I am truly hurting for my family and our community.

While we are devastated, my family is strong and we’ve always stood together in times of hardship. We are determined to rebuild, and we are doing everything we can to support them in this next chapter of their lives. I am humbly asking for your help in raising funds to support my family as they navigate this unimaginable loss. Your donations will go toward temporary housing, replacing basic necessities, and ultimately helping them rebuild a home where they can once again share their love and hospitality with the people they care about most.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any support you can offer. Whether you donate, share this campaign, or simply send your thoughts and prayers, it means the world to us.
