Rebuilding after unlawful arrest by Detroit Police
Donation protected
Sandra Wilson tried to be a good samaritan by returning a forgotten credit card she noticed on the counter at her local gas station. She asked the lady that checked out ahead of her if she left the card, that lady confirmed she had left it, so Sandra returned the card to her and went on about her night.
The following week, Sandra learned that the lady lied about the card belonging to her and rather than DPD finding and arresting the thief, they arrested Sandra as she was visiting the 7th precinct to clear her name. As a result of this arrest, Sandra has lost her job and is facing eviction. To compound this alreadry insurmountable hardship, Sandra lost a child shortly after her criminal charges were tossed - which added the expense of funeral costs on top of living expenses while she is still unable to find work. I've received approval from both Sandra and her attorney to organize this fundraiser and Sandra's bank account is linked directly to this fundraiser to ensure each dime donated goes directly to Sandra. There are no other fundraisers that Sandra has approved of.
