Rebuilding Alexis's Life After Tragic Loss

Donation protected
On Friday, December 13, in Pelzer, SC, there was a fire that destroyed everything. It was my home, my dream home; it was a tiny home.

There was a controlled burn in the front yard that had been burning since morning. I was inside watching TV when I heard an explosion. I ran out to see what had happened and saw that something in the pit had exploded. I put out several little fires and was confident everything was OK. I returned inside, and within minutes, I smelled smoke. I again ran outside to find that under the front porch, there was a fire. I never imagined an ember would land under there. I tried in vain to put it out. After calling 911, I ran into the house and got my two small dogs out. Then I ran around back to go inside to get my birds. It was thick black smoke. When I got the cage out of its stand, I turned around and hit a wall. Then I heard someone telling me to drop the cage and get out. I made it to the back deck, dropped the cage, and was led out away from the house. I never thought there could be anything else in the house, only to be told my dog Jordan, my two parrots, and three cats died from smoke inhalation. I was devastated. My home was reduced to rubble. There is nothing left. It is a total loss.

My mom died five weeks ago. I lost her ashes and all traces of her existence. No pictures, no nothing. There is no insurance. The Red Cross put us in a hotel for a couple of days. Donations for two more days. After that, we will be in a temporary camper until I can rebuild. I have chickens and goats and a few more cats. I need to be there for them. I've rescued animals my entire life. I've always helped other people, but now I need help. I need a dumpster, a Bobcat or front-end loader, and I need to replace my home as best as I can. I am 72 years old, on SSI of $875.00 a month. I cannot do this without your support and prayers. I've always prepared ahead of time for emergencies, but nothing prepared me for this. In all total, it is an estimated $60,000.00 loss. I am humbly asking for your donations to help me get back in a home. I am Alexis Adams, and I live at 113 Bonnie Lane in Pelzer, SC 29669.

Thank you very much for your time.
