Rebuilding grandma's joy
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Joe, and I'm making this fundraiser for my Aunt Velma [Edwards]. Velma is 78 years old and makes hand-made quilts like the old days! Now that she's retired, this is her daily joy and sense of calmness. Last night, her special quilting shed burned to the ground. The cause is pending the investigation, but I wanted to get the ball rolling to help her rebuild. Inside were priceless treasures of quilts yet-to-be-made, quilts yet-to-be-given, and all the quilting tools and accessories for quality handmade blankets of love. Velma's son-in-law has estimated the value of the shed and its contents in the ballpark of $25k-$30k, not to mention the priceless tranquility it gave to Velma herself.
Velma made quilts for her children, her grandchildren, and various custom requests in the past. She's sewn together T-shirts into quilts (for high-schoolers) and made baby-quilts for the newly expecting and new parents, alike.
We're asking for assistance in rebuilding her shed so that she can get back to making quilts for her family, the community, and her own peace & quiet.
