Rebuilding Hope: A Family's Journey from Gaza

Donation protected
In the heart of Gaza, amidst the scent of gunpowder, blood, dust, and despair, our family clings to life. I am Mohammed, and this is our story.

Can you imagine what it's like to live in Gaza?

The Devastation

War hit us like a brutal storm. Our once cozy home, filled with laughter and warmth, now lies in ruins. The second week of relentless bombings shattered our walls, dreams, and sense of security. We fled, not once, but five times - from north to south, from Gaza to Rafah - chasing safety like ghosts in the night.

Our home before the war

Our home after the war

The Hunger

Our stomachs growl with hunger. Food is scarce, and what little we find barely sustains us. My wife, Islam, cradles our newborn son, *Aws, whispering lullabies to calm his hunger cries. Our six-year-old son, **Abdul Nasser*, gazes at the sky, unaware of the terror surrounding him. His innocence is our fragile hope.

Sleepless Nights

We sleep on the cold, bare ground. No mattresses, no soft pillows to comfort our weary bodies. The nights are long, filled with echoes of explosions and cries of other families. I hold Islam tightly, her warmth a lifeline in this desolate darkness. We reminisce about our dreams - the ones we had before war stole them away.

The dream of stability and I, Mohammed, as a father and husband, feel responsible for my family. I dream of living in a safe and stable environment, where I can provide comfort and security for my wife and children. Therefore, I want to travel to look for an opportunity to live freely and peacefully, and secure a better future for us all.

The Struggle

Work feels like a distant memory. Streets are rubble, markets in ruins. No jobs, no opportunities. We survive on the kindness of strangers, on scraps of aid that trickle in. But it's never enough. How do you explain hunger to a child who only knows laughter?

A Call for Help

And so, I write this blog - a desperate plea for survival. Our family needs food, shelter, medicine. We need hope. If you're reading this, know that every word is etched with tears, every image captures our reality. We are not just statistics; we are souls yearning for a chance to live.

Conclusion

In the midst of destruction, love endures. Our family holds onto each other, hoping for a dawn that brings peace. We are not just survivors; we are warriors of love. Join us in this battle - for Gaza, for humanity, for life.

companying this blog are images: Aws, the innocence of Abdul Nasser in his wide eyes, remnants of our home. Every pixel tells a story.
