Support for Ciaran and Family After the Fire

Hi, we are Jen and Alli and we are raising funds for our brother Doug Neiman and his family, who lost everything in the devastating Pacific Palisades fires. In a single, unimaginable day, they lost their home, their children’s schools, their neighborhood, and their community.

Doug and his wife, Shannon, have two children, Ciaran (17) and Kellan (12). Their situation is especially challenging because Ciaran, 17, incurred a series of life changing strokes from a deadly eColi infection when she was 2. Despite her positive attitude, she lost most of her motor skills (walking, talking, hand coordination) and requires full-time care and specialized medical equipment as she is confined to a wheelchair.

When Doug returned to their property to see what remained, the only thing left in the ashes was Ciaran’s burned frame from her wheelchair. All her medical equipment—including a lift, bathing chair, and custom orthotics—were completely destroyed.

Doug and his family had to evacuate with nothing more than the clothes on their backs. Ciaran, a senior at Palisades High School, was preparing to graduate this spring, but her school was also reduced to rubble, and her dedicated teachers and aides have been displaced. The road ahead for them is daunting.

As third-generation Angelenos, we grew up in the Palisades. It’s nearly impossible to comprehend that the place we called home for so long has vanished in an instant.

Ciaran’s caregiving needs have dramatically increased, especially with the lack of school-based support and access to essential equipment. The transition to full-time care at home has placed significant demands on our family, requiring constant attention and specialized resources that we currently don’t have. As we work tirelessly to provide the best possible care for her, we are seeking help to bridge the gap—ensuring she has the tools and support she needs to thrive in this challenging time. Your generosity will make a world of difference in easing these burdens and helping us focus on her well-being.

While life for Doug, Shannon, Ciaran, and Kellan will never be the same, we are hopeful that, with your support, they can begin to rebuild their lives.
