Rebuilding in NYC: HumanifestX (DEI Style)

Hi. My name is Dina Hornreich. I have risked life and limb, but finally made it back to the east coast after 15 years in Colorado. Despite living in a homeless shelter, I am actively looking for places around NYC where I can continue my DEI efforts.

I need your support on this convoluted journey through vital financial donations as I strive to support rebuilding our communities based upon the ideals of "microdemocratic" learning environments.

I seek to build a task force that will usher in a Conceptual Age; and I argue that educators, under the leadership of librarians, must all transition into a different role as “Meta-Literacies Counselors.”

As the contagions of misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation have exacerbated many public health crises that continue to infect our communities; I have been ardently substantiating trauma-informed humanistic approaches. I call my endeavors: HumanifestX.

It is a framework that emphasizes both Universal Design and Accessibility considerations from the outset when delivering instructional services while focusing on learner-focused approaches for appropriately, ethically, and effectively acquiring and utilizing information, media, & technology artefacts.

I am convinced that “the medium is the lesson” and, as such, artistic, spiritual, & emotional sensibilities are crucial during this culturally transitional time as we aspire for improved integrative wellness for ourselves and the communities we live and work in.

We are being forced to rethink the nature of the instructional situation in ways that validate self-care, self-awareness, and self-compassion. This approach is fundamental for accommodating individual learners’ modalities, aptitudes, orientations, styles, and preferences that impact the quality of experiences shared in the learning environment.

It is integrative and holistic as it focuses on moral reasoning and lays the foundation for DEI+ efforts as we aspire to "level up" to becoming an informed, engaged, and WISE citizenry.
