Rebuilding Joanna Kidney's Encaustic Painting Equipment following her Studio Fire.
This page has been set up by friends in the Encaustic Painting Community (Melissa Morton Lackman, Kathy Cantwell and Steven Cabral) for Joanna Kidney. On 22nd February, a fire at her studios destroyed all of her work, notebooks, materials, equipment and books....25 years of her art life's stuff. Her studios, Outpost Studios (Bray, Co. Wicklow, Ireland) was established in 2014 by 8 artists (Joanne Boyle, Rachel Fallon, Emma Finucane, Raine Hozier Byrne, Eleanor Philips, Laura Kelly, Joanna Kidney, Ann Marie Webb). They will be fundraising separately for the studios losses. We'd like to help Joanna rebuild her encaustic painting equipment and materials to get her painting again.
The basic set up will cost approximately €1,900 and includes:
Palette, electric frying pan, extractor fan, beeswax, resin, starter set of pigments, brushes, heat gun, gas torch, flow pen, panels, incising and scraping tools, pigment sticks and oil pastels.
Joanna's Bio:
Through drawing, painting and installation, Joanna Kidney's work reflects on ideas of temporality and the interrelationship between all living matter. Wicklow (2015), Royal Hibernian Academy, Dublin (2013) and The Drawing Project, Co. Dublin (2012). She has exhibited widely in group shows in Ireland, France, Germany and the USA.
