Rebuilding Lives: Aid for Sondra and Nate

I am Kathy Kline, I live in Greenville WI. Sondra and Nate are my cousins from Old Fort, NC (I am affectionately referred to as their Aunt!) and they are the most genuine people you would ever meet. I am raising these funds for their family as they attempt to rebuild their lives. They lost NEARLY EVERYTHING to Hurricane Helene. They are safe, alive and thankful to be staying with Nate's sister and family while they navigate a new life.

Sondra and Nate did not have flood insurance, like so many. We are hopeful FEMA will help with their immediate needs...that will not be enough to rebuild. Please consider a donation. Any amount will be a blessing!

Here is their story in Sondra's own words:

Last Friday (9-27-24) was a devastating day for my community and for us personally. Hurricane Helene swept up from Florida and destroyed many mountain communities. We are so grateful to be safe and to have saved two of our cars and to have been able to get out of town that evening to family an hour east where we had power and water. So many were stuck and cut off.

Several things stand out to me about this experience: having family to go to has cut or trauma in half. We have been loved and provided for by my sister-in-law’s church and community, most of whom are strangers to us. I’ve also been amazed at the relief teams coming from all over the country and from Canada.

Again, we are so glad to be safe. We were able to come back to the house and save many of our clothes and pictures on the wall, and we had taken with us all our important papers and electronics when we fled the first time.

Our entire region is suffering right now, and it’s hard to see and surreal to process. But we also have been assured of God’s faithfulness and goodness and provision in this time as we see the church loving and serving us and the community.
