From Gaza to a New Beginning

Dear supporters,

My name is Sara, and I write to you with a heart heavy with the weight of my family's trials and tribulations. I am a Palestinian American from Gaza, and every word I pen here resonates with the echoes of our shared struggles and shattered dreams.

In the image above, you see my youngest brother Ghassan, a child whose innocence has been stolen by the relentless conflicts that haunt our homeland. The morning he learned the news that our home was bombed to the ground, silent tears burned down his face, you could almost hear the sound of his heart breaking. The same goes for my youngest sisters Salma and Arwa. They left everything behind, including their childhood, to search for their safety. My baby siblings grew up too soon. These were only children whose worst nightmare was waking up early to school. How come we live in a time where these kids were seriously imagining which way they’re going to lose their lives? Ghassan once built a shelter for his toys under his desk to help save them from the bombings. Ghassan now lost his desk, toys, and the only home he’s ever known.

Reem and Marwa, two bright stars whose aspirations soared as high as the heavens. They’re the prime example of resilience and excellence-driven young students. I always tell them they’re my role models even though they’re younger than me, I actually look up to them. Despite their unwavering determination, their dreams, careers, and the lives they planned are now suffocated by uncertainty and despair.

Saeda and Khader are my younger siblings who are the closest to my age. They’ve always been my pride and they’re the closest of my friends. They’re in their mid-twenties, but they only witnessed what life looks like outside the open-air prison and the siege only recently. They once stood tall as pillars of strength, but now they find themselves adrift in a sea of unemployment and hopelessness.

And then there are my parents, the pillars of our family. Their hearts, once filled with love and hope, now ache with the pain of loss and displacement. The pharmacy they built with sweat and sacrifice, the sanctuary we called home—it has all been ripped away, leaving behind only memories tainted by sorrow.

My family was fortunate enough to escape the horrors of Gaza and find refuge in Egypt. But our journey to safety is far from over. As a US citizen, I am determined to bring my family to the United States, where they can find solace and opportunity. However, the path ahead is filled with financial obstacles that threaten to derail our dreams.
That’s where we need your help. As of now, we only want to have their arrival to the States covered in terms of immigration processes, fees, and tickets. Once they’re here, they'll work their way to starting all over again. The path is long, but with your support, we hope to reunite our family and rebuild our lives.

Your contributions, no matter the amount, will make a significant impact and will help fund the following:

• Application fees for 9 family members: (535$ per I-130 application) + ($120 per required medical examination) + (issuing passports: $620 total) + Immigrant Visa Application Processing Fees ($325 per applicant) + Green Card Fees ($220 per applicant).
• One-way flight tickets from Cairo to Detroit
• GoFundMe transaction fees: 2.9% + $0.30 per donation

Your generosity will not merely be a financial contribution; it will be a lifeline for my family. It will be a message of compassion, a beacon of solidarity, and a testament to the strength of human connections. In supporting us, you are not only helping with paperwork or expenses; you are assisting in the restoration of shattered dreams, the rebuilding of broken lives, and the reunification of a family torn apart by circumstances beyond our control.

From the depths of my heart, I express my gratitude for your consideration and potential support. May your kindness echo in the lives of my family and may the seeds of hope you plant today blossom into a future filled with promise.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Sara.

This was our simple happy life
