Rebuilding Minneapolis in Honor of George Floyd

Donation protected
My name is Jon Wolf.  I live in the west suburbs of Minneapolis.  I'm organizing this fundraiser in an effort to help as many small/local business owners recover as possible. The riots have cause a devastating affect on many small business throughout Minneapolis and St Paul. Some that have been around for over 30+ years that may not recover.  Couple that with the shut down, this surely put the dagger in a lot of their businesses and means of life to support their family. Also a lot of these businesses are locally owned and even if they're not, people in the community rely on them for work and the goods they offer.

The Floyd Family and the city of Minneapolis are hurting right now.  There is no doubt that the murder of George Floyd was unjust. We wholeheartedly rationalize the pain, anger, and grief for the Floyd family and our community. No one should ever have to go through this.

Business owners were not the only people affected by the riots.  Apartment buildings were also burnt to the ground and many people are now without a home and lost all of their personal belongings.

Again, we are deeply saddened and upset about the death of George Floyd but these business and community members are not what we're fighting against.

We need help rebuilding this city and helping as many of these small businesses recover and open their stores when the time is right. We understand that insurance will help recoup some of the losses but will not account for all of it. They also won't be able to help with the lost revenue for the year it's going to take to rebuild. For a lot of business owners, their life's savings and blood, sweat and tears went into their business and now it seems as if it was all for nothing. We want to able to help where we can.

How the funds will be spent? 100% of funds will be donated to those that need it.

- We will organize volunteers to clean the streets and small businesses of all debri.  We will post dates to start clean up once we've established enough funds to do so. All are welcome to join!

- After the general clean up is complete the remaining funds will be dispersed to local businesses

I plan to end this fundraiser at the end of June. I'm currently getting in touch with business owners to see who could benefit from the funds the most. I will personally deliver the checks to each business owner.  I think giving direct to business owners versus to a charity will have the greatest impact.

Here is a list of the businesses that have been affected by the riots:

Many businesses have been completely burned to the ground and may never return. We want to focus on the businesses that have the possibility of reopening in the next 6 months. If you know of any businesses that have been affected by this in any way please reach out and let us know! We will be able to start picking the businesses when things settle down. We would like to help everyone but realize that is probably not possible so this is the best way to make our money stretch and make the biggest impact.

Like most people that live here, we love this city.  This has been a very dark week for Minneapolis.  The country is looking at us. Let's set an example and show them how we can come together and come back stronger.
