The Re-building of Purley Masjid
Aslam-u-alaikum,
Purley Masjid is a modern Islamic centre in Purley, a suburb of South London. It was established in 2015 after fundraising to accommodate the needs of the local Muslim community.
Ma Sha’ Allah, the Masjid is now trying to cope with the demand and has to overcome many challenges to support the Muslim and also non-Muslim community. Here are just a few of examples of the issues:
- the prayer halls are not large enough to accommodate all worshippers
- the same prayer hall is used for multiple purposes (lectures, fitness classes, mother and toddlers group, Iftars, seniors meet up sessions)
- the Food Bank only has enough space for a shelf rack to store food. It caters for anyone in need in the Purley community, Muslim and non-Muslim alike
A dedicated 6-story building would expand the facilities, thereby offering much more to the community
We both - Naimah and Nadiyah - will be undertaking a sponsored walk challenge around our local neighbourhood to contribute to raising of funds. Please support us! We want to do as much as we can for Purley Masjid
