Rebuilding our Lives in Gaza

Nur is a talented upcoming software engineer who will help raise the voice of displaced people from Gaza and around the world in her career. I have been her mentor in tech after meeting her through Re:Coded a program that helps displaced people advance their tech skills. I have created this go fund me for her and her family in the hopes we can make her journey even more impactful. Below is her story.

My Family's Life Before The War

I'm Nur Abunamus a 24-year-old student. A year ago, I left my family in Gaza to pursue my Master's degree in Computer Engineering in Turkey. Back home, my father, a dedicated ophthalmologist, worked hard to provide for us and create a comfortable life so that our dreams would have a chance to become true. He invested all that he had in our home. My mom, Gaza's only piano teacher, filled our lives, and those of hundreds of children with music, bringing joy and nurturing dreams in them, including my three younger siblings.

How Our Life Was Impacted Since The War Took Place

The genocide happening in Gaza displaced my family, destroying our apartment shortly after my grandfather's house was leveled to the ground; both places were where we created countless memories. Our personal belongings and my artwork, created over time, were completely destroyed.

An ongoing war meant that my father lost his job, losing his only source of income. This highly affected my brother’s Bachelor's degree studies abroad, since he might have to drop out soon if the situation does not change. My mother's piano, once used to teach and inspire children, was destroyed, silencing music once and for all.

Leaving for Turkey, I envisioned a joyful return. Now, facing the absence of a house and familiar space, I feel displaced. Nevertheless, my family remains determined to rebuild, brick by brick, with your help.

Rebuilding Lives: A Call for Support

The war displaced us, leaving us without homes, belongings, and income. My brother's education is on a shaking ledge. We need your help.
