Rebuilding Primered Black After Flood
My name is Danna Nickels, and I am creating this GFM for my sister and brother-in-law, owners of Primered Black Paint and Body. Here is their story:
“As many of you probably know, our shop is along the Pigeon River in downtown Canton, NC. We watched our worst fears come true today as our shop got submerged in water.
Joe was in the shop until the last minute trying to save everything he could. But, as he stood at the edge of the water some 150 yds up the road all he could see was all of our dreams being washed away with most of the contents of our shop.
We want to say a big thank you to our guys who stayed to help get as much out as we could. Without you guys this business would be nothing. You are family and we thank you so much for giving even when you didn’t have to.
We do not know what sort of damage we are looking at, as the water is just starting to recede. But we know that we have lost tools, paint, parts, every bit of sand paper and other supplies that weren’t top priority when we realized we were going to flood.
Please know that we are getting your messages and calls and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts, but it’s hard to answer with the emotions we are feeling right now.
But, we are fighters, we are fixers, and this will not be the end for us. Joe built this business from nothing, and we will rebuild.
Please be patient with us as we navigate a situation we’ve never dealt with before.”
Since this was written, they have been able to better assess the damage. Insurance will mostly cover damage to the building and some of their equipment, but they have suffered the loss of thousands and thousands of dollars in tools, supplies, and parts. Not to mention the total loss of actual cars they were working on.
No donation is too small, and any amount is so greatly appreciated to help them rebuild. Most of all, knowing they are surrounded by a community of family and friends who are so willing to help is the greatest blessing of all.
