Rebuilding the dream farm after storm Eowyn

Donation protected
Hello from the Kuchenbäcker (Cakebaker) family. 4 years ago we left Germany to take on our little big adventure moving to Ireland and living our dream as self sufficient smallholder’s. Not only providing fresh organic food for our family but also for our Community.

When we bought this property we put all our love, money and resources in turning this land into a flourishing place. We found friends among the families and people who live here and filled our community with fresh grown vegetables, eggs, pickles, jams etc.

Until the night of Friday the 24.01.25 when Storm Eowyn hit Ireland, a extratropical cyclone with hurricane force, and destroyed hundreds and thousands of homes and businesses all over Ireland including parts of our farm.

Compared to others we were lucky enough and only lost one of our polytunnels, the little honesty box at our street where we offered our veggies, eggs, jams pickles etc to the people of our community a window on our shed and a few minor material things.
All animals and humans were unharmed.
But still this is a major backlash for us und will set us back at least a year or longer. With having to save for a new shed for the honesty box and the new polytunnel and removal if the damaged one.

Many people from all over the world have reached out to us asking how they could help. Besides manpower to clean up and rebuild, what we absolutely would love to do but we sadly lack the money to invest in another honesty box and tunnel.

If you want to help with manpower we will happily welcome you. Just please excuse that we neither have electricity nor water at the moment. Its estimated restoration will take until the 5.2.25 according to ESB.

If you want to help and leave a donation, no matter the size - every little helps and will go directly towards rebuilding our little homestead in particular the honesty box and the polytunnel.

I will share the update on our facebook page https://www.facebook.com/share/19PaL2bA5C/?mibextid=wwXIfr so you can celebrate the rebuild and regrowth together with us.

Moving here to Ireland, leaving all our friends and family behind, was never easy but we followed our hearts and dream.
We have faced many challenges and set backs before. This has taught us resilience, patience and trust in the people around us. We are strong, will heal and grow again.

This storm has turned our world upside down, it has set us back but it hasn’t broken our spirits. Instead it will make us even stronger.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us rebuilding our dream. Together we can get this going again.
