Rebuilding Yaqaga Island, my island Home.
Donation protected
On the evening of December 16th 2020, The Fiji Islands were struck by yet another Category 5 Tropical Cyclone (TC YASA). This has destroyed many houses, schools, medical facilities and livestock.
My home village of Yaqaga Island in the Bua province where I grew up was one of the many villages and settlements which felt the full force of this tropical cyclone.
It has taken the villagers decades to build their livelihoods of which were destroyed within hours on this terrible day. With the current COVID-19 restrictions in place it will be hard for the help from government and external agencies to give the required aid and even when received I feel this will only be enough to restore much and not all of the damage caused.
Therefore as a Fijian living in the UK I feel it would only be right that I do my part in trying to raise as much money as possible to help.
I would like to raise money for the children who attend my old village school to help purchase what they require for their education to get back on track (books, pens, uniforms, shoes etc). also essential food items and building materials which will aid the recovery of the island.
I would like to kindly request your help in achieving my goal.
ANY donations no matter how big or small will be equally welcome to aid in the recovery of the island I still call my home.
