Recent bride, Shayna Hunt, has Leiomyosarcoma

As many of us know, our dear friend and relative, Shayna Cullanin, was recently married to Douglas Hunt, and became Shayna Hunt. What many may not realize is that, as they begin their new life together, they do so under the shadow of a looming battle with cancer. Many who know Shayna know she first defeated cancer as a small child, and that she fought it again and beat it a couple years ago. Sadly, the sarcoma has returned, and with a vengeance. Doctors say she has masses on her liver and her ovary, for sure. There are other possible masses on the original scan that still need to be investigated, but the liver masses have been officially diagnosed as sarcoma, so in all likelihood, any other masses are sarcoma as well.
She and her doctors are beginning to make a treatment plan, and this requires so much running back and forth to doctors in Kalispell. We must also be aware that she will not be able to work in so much pain. Their finances will definitely take a hit, even if the medical bills are covered by insurance. The expense of gas and lodging alone, to go to Kalispell for treatment, often staying overnight or even for several days, will be astronomical. With her not working, he will be hard put to support them alone, considering he recently had back surgery himself.
I would like to take this opportunity to remind the local Lake County, Montana community of the efforts Shayna made, through LCCS, to help everyone in need throughout the pandemic. She was a rock for many people, before she had to let go of LCCS due to her previous battle with cancer. We came together in support of her then, and she pulled through and began to thrive, leaving a previous abusive relationship, meeting Doug, and starting their new life together. I would encourage everyone to pull together for her again, and pray that this new life they have begun together will not be cut short by the spectre of cancer. We can make a huge difference in her fight by supporting her through her trials again. Whatever our community can spare will surely be appreciated. Every little bit helps, and all gifts, even just a few dollars, will be so welcome.
No one should have to face the terror of a cancer diagnosis once, let alone several times in their life. Shayna is a kind and generous and loving person. She deserves better than the trails life has handed her, so far. It is my sincere hope that we, as a community, will not let her face it alone. I pray we can buoy her as she faces the next tsunami wave life has in store, and that she will float through the storm, carried clear of this potential disaster by our abundant love and support.
