Recharging for Health. Helping patients connect.

Donation protected
OUR MISSION:

To empower and support patients to stay connected with family and loved ones in times of need and uncertainty!

A common request that all nurses encounter is " Do you have a phone charger that I can borrow?"
That's when we realised this is a much needed piece of technology that can really make a difference to patients!

WHY DONATE?

Together we can make a difference.
We all know how vital mobile phones are to keep in touch with people who are important to us. This becomes even more vital when someone finds themselves in hospital unexpectedly, anxious, isolated and scared.

Often patients are admitted to hospital unprepared. The experience can be difficult, frightening and stressful and contact with family and friends is important. Often they find themselves without means to charge their phone and will ask nursing staff if they have a charger to borrow.  The single most forgotten item when going to hospital unexpectedly is... the phone charger. Sometimes there are old chargers left behind or another patient kindly offers theirs. And more often than not we have rummaged through drawers in the search to find one that fits the patients phone, but to no avail.

Being able to keep in touch, organise your life and even be entertained makes a difference when you find yourself isolated. Phone chargers are usually the single most forgotten thing when being admitted to hospital.

Recent events with the Covid 19 pandemic have made the use of mobile devices more vital than ever. Due to visitor restrictions and border closures the only way many patients can contact loved ones is through the use of mobile phones or tablet devices.

We want to make sure that as many people as possible can keep their devices charged and can stay in touch. When someone is admitted to ED or the ward and asks if they can borrow a charger, the staff can say yes we can help you with that. We also haven't forgotten about our aged care facilities. More than any others, they have endured long periods of lockdown and isolation.

To any ward or aged care facility that makes a request, we aim to deliver a box containing two charging plugs, two 3 in 1 cables and documents to help implement the use of the chargers.

MEET THE TEAM:
Recharging for Health, has been created by two registered nurses, Annie and Andrew, who saw a need to solve a problem that they often encounter.

OUR COSTS:
It will cost between $40 and  $50 to get one box out. This includes the box, two wall plug chargers with USB- port and two 3 in 1 charging cables to fit almost every phone type plus postage .
And that's why we are here asking for your help. We want to get as many out as possible and are only limited by how much we can raise. $5000 will get at least 125 boxes out and $20000 means we could get at least 500 out, and that would be amazing.

So far we donated 99 packs to 80 different hospitals across Australia.

Our organisation is hoping to get mobile phone chargers and cables out to every Hospital ward or care facility that needs one.

Donations are fantastic but we understand that not everyone can give money. We would also really appreciate it if people could help get the word out about our project. We also want to hear from people in health care who could use our service.

Thank you to everyone for any support that you provide.
