This is my story...

I was born in Australia almost 46 years ago.

My father (an Italian Chef) and I were separated not long after I was born in 1969, by a deep family rift.

He tried to get my mother to follow him overseas, however, she wouldn't go and years later he was married and had 3 more beautiful children. I was so excited to learn I had siblings - twin brothers and a sister! I went to NYC in 1989, when I as 20, to meet them all, but unfortunately things didn't work out and I left in 4 days, returning to Australia with a broken heart

Fifteen years ago I spoke to one of the twins and then lost contact. In all that time he searched for me online, exhausting all avenues.

Finally in Jan 2013, he located me via LinkedIn.

Within 2 months he was in Australia with me for 8 beautiful months.

Just as he was arriving I was losing my home. We bounced from place to place, staying with friends and for a time in a little apartment, things were very tight financially and very tough; but it was an amazing experience to have my little brother beside me for some quality time after 44 long and lonely years growing up as an only child. I was thrilled to have his company - a sibling at long last!

In November we arrived in NYC but unfortunately I didn't manage to see my father even once during my 3 month stay. Separated for 45 years, and the cruel twist of fate was that I was finally in NYC but he was not. He was still in Italy, unable to travel due to ill health. Fate had intervened once again.

I had to return to Australia in February very briefly and within 10 days I was returning to the Big Apple to finally see my Dad in March! My visit was a complete success! And I can honestly say I've never been so happy! But we only had just one month together before he had to fly back to Italy for medical treatment.

Update - Dad has returned to the States and now I want to bring my children to the U.S to meet their grandfather for the very first time...Can you help me make this dream become a reality?

Here's to the lovers, the believers...the vagabonds and the dreamers...and to all of those who dared to dream the biggest dreams...then made them real!
