record & perform several original compositions

Hi, my name is Jim, and when I look at all the urgent and worthy causes on GoFundMe, it actually makes me squirm a little to make an ask! With that in mind, I'm going to list some nonprofits I believe in right off the bat, then make my ask.

I am a lifelong performing musician and composer primarily a jazz and salsa guy. You can check me out here: https://jimohmusic.com/

There are several compositions which have been screaming to be realized, performed, and documented with an expanded group. I had done this quite some time ago with another group of tunes which are available on my website, Apple Music, Amazon, Spotify, and other platforms.

My vision is to record and perform these and possibly another one or two compositions, to do this in mid-August this year.

Here is a list of tunes with a brief description.

7even, a composition in 7/4 for alto flute, electric bass, drum set, tablas, cimbalom, and classical guitar.

The Other Birthday Waltz, written in 3/4 and triplet 4/4 for C flute, trombone, violin, electric bass, electric

guitar, Hammond organ, drum set, and talking drum; with an Afro-rock feel.

The Zipper Song, for alto flute, trombone, violin, electric bass, piano, and drums; with a hip-hop groove.

Larry! A composition for flute, electric guitar, electric bass, drum set, and congas, rock/funk and salsa.

Many of these are specifically tailored for players I have known and performed with for many years. I already have charts and sequences for all of these compositions and have played the majority in small-group settings for the past few years with great responses.

I have been awarded a generous grant by SICA-USA (Subud International Cultural Organization), and this is to help supplement that grant.

All funds generated will be used to pay players for recording and performance and for studio costs.
