Death on the Ice: Stop the hunt of dogs & puppies

Donation protected
In northern Manitoba, residents are preparing to shoot dogs and puppies. Lost Boys Hope (http://lostboyshope.net), a Barrie dog rescue, wants to save as many as they can. We want to tell their story so we can help them save more.

In December, our crew from Five Points Media (www.fivepointsmedia.ca) recorded a video for Lost Boys Hope about dozens of dogs and puppies being rescued from certain death and brought to live with families and individuals in the City of Barrie, the town of Innisfil, and the township of Oro-Medonte. The dogs were abandoned and were barely surviving in the wilds at the edges of towns where the temperatures were consistently colder than -40c. That is cold enough to cause frostbite in people in five minutes.

We then learned that the residents of the isolated communities have decided to hunt and kill as many of the dogs as they can line up in the scopes of their rifles. They call it a culling, which is defined as “reduction of a wild animal population by selective slaughter.” It doesn’t matter if they are male, female, adults, or puppies. If it is a dog, it will die a grizzly death on the ice.

Be assured, no dog was hurt or distressed in any way during the production of this video.
