Recoup Costs For a Bum Transmission, and Get a Rental Car

Hi there, my name is Kirin. If you're here, you've probably seen this via Twitter and maybe know me as Mr. Mothdust.

Back in February, I had a car accident and totaled the car I'd had for 12 years. It was a rough time and I was in NO place to be able to purchase a new car or take on the debt of having a car payment. Luckily, I got a decent settlement and I have family that was able to help me out at the time, so, I managed to get the car in the picture above- a lovely 2014 Ford Escape.

I was quite smitten with this vehicle and have loved driving it for the last two months but this week (starting 9 April) I started to have issues with the transmission. The vehicle was no longer safe for me to drive and I had to take it in to get looked at.

Turns out, the transmission was totally busted and needed to be replaced- something I was not told or had no knowledge of prior to purchasing the vehicle. Perhaps the worst part of this whole thing has been the fact that once again, my family had to step in to save me and take on a bunch of debt- to the tune of $8.5k. Which is just shy of what I paid for the car to begin with.

To make matters EVEN worse, I currently have no way to get to work and have no way to afford a rental on my own right now. So the total amount of this fundraiser is to both recoup the costs of the large sum of money my family had to pay for this bum transmission, and to get me a rental car so I can actually get to work for the next two to three weeks while I wait for it all to be fixed.
