Recoup Costs After Car Accident
I'm Dana, and my better half is Jake. We were supposed to be going to Disneyland to meet some family -- the first time we'd all be seeing each other since before Covid lockdowns. It promised to be a good time.
Instead, things happened like a horror movie: one moment we were driving on a clear road, and the next we were part of a multi-car pileup. We're eternally grateful for airbags and seatbelts, because without them, we might not have made it.
We were carted off the scene in an ambulance. At the hospital, we discovered matching injuries: each of us had broken our right ankle, there was some bruising/scrapes, and to top it off, Jake had also broken his left hand.
We're not able to put pressure on our ankles for the next six weeks, and are basically wheelchair-bound for that duration. This means that medical transport (vans that can carry wheelchairs) to our numerous hospital and surgical appointments is costly. While we have medical insurance, our transport costs are really adding up. We're hoping to recoup some of those transport costs.
Our initial return trip (LA to Sacramento) cost nearly $2500, and each subsequent medical office visit costs us around $300. All together, our goal is to hopefully break even on some of these costs.
