Single mother recovering from sever illness.

Hello, my name is Leslie. I am a single mom to a little boy who just turned 12. Last month on June 6th I was helping my boy fix a video game when I was not able to get up of the floor. I was finally able to make it to the living room when I lost all feeling in my legs. My son immediately called 911. I was taken by EMS to the ETC at our local hospital. Only to be miss treated and dismissed as though I was nothing. After 3 subsequent trips to the ETC within a one week time frame they finally decided to admit me. (NONE OF THIS DO I REMEMBER AFTER THE FIRST VISIT). FOLLOWING MORE EXTENSIVE TEST I WAS FOUND TO HAVE MULTIPLE LUMBAR ABSESSES. AN STEMING FROM A UTI, THAT I SHOWED NO SIGNS OF. By this time when they finally figured out what was wrong it was almost too late as my body was already in sepsis. I was rushed into emergency surgeries Two days following I was taken back into the OR for yet another back surgery. Moving forward to when I was in ICU but actually have the ability to remember the Dr. That ordered the surgeon to perform the surgery when he did walked into my ICU room and started YOu don't know how much I never thought I'd see you breathing on your own again.

I had several doctor's and nurses and aids tell me that they never thought I would make it. That is probably the scariest part. So with an incision almost half way the length of my back I stared in a VERY ROCKY rd to the recovery that I am currently on now. All the while I had my baby boy by my side. He was there everyday day in day out spending most of his summer in a hospital room with his momma. I was finally discharged on July 28, with a wound vac attached to my lower back still removing infection and all other unneeded things in my back. Also in my right arm I have a PICC line that is used to administer iv antibiotics daily. With the cost of $176,000 along with my 3 times weekly wound vac changes by home health. Accompanied with the 3 weekly dr. Apts I must attend as well as blood draws, and pharmacy trips. All with the aide of my walker. Now due to my being sick my baby boy missed out on a party, even though he acted as though it was no worry I could tell it hurt him. So any donations that we are blessed with outside of living costs for necessity items giving my baby a proper birthday party is what I'm striving for. Thank you and God Bless
