Recovering from 2 Burglaries- Nara Chinese
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
My parent's restaurant, Nara Chinese Restaurant, and home in Shoreline, WA were burglarized the night of the 24th. This is the second burglary in just a few months that's happened to our small family restaurant and we are devastated (during the first burglary my dad was held at gunpoint while multiple people ransacked the restaurant - thankfully my mom and dad were both able to run outside right when the intruders stormed in this time). The thieves got away with cash and stole my mom’s personal belongings.
I cannot emphasize how much our restaurant means to me. They've owned it for 16 years and it's the place I called home for most of my life. I would wake up, go to school, then go directly to the restaurant where I would spend hours doing schoolwork, watching TV, and hanging out with my parents. It has been the site of countless birthday parties and family gatherings, a place where people from all walks of life come to eat food and enjoy the company of their loved ones, and it's the first place I go to when I come home for break as I recover from bland dining hall meals.
My parents work so hard to support our family and fund my college education, something that they never got to achieve. Sitting in my dorm room at Yale, nearly 3,000 miles away from home, I feel absolutely helpless and I turn to my community for support.
They are currently working to change our locks and add high-quality security cameras to our restaurant and home. I ask that you donate to ensure that the financial burden is not on them to pay for this technology to protect my family and their livelihood.
Thank you,
Nara
