Recovering from attack to my spinal cord by covid
Donation protected
I am a survivor!!! I refuse to give up! However, I am struggling to see the end of the recovery journey. On September 19th of this year covid attacked my spine . I FOUND MYSELF being airlifted to Spokane. I had no feeling from my waist down and by the time I landed in Spokane I had no feeling from my shoulders down.
I spent 10 days on the covid ward in the hospital with neurologists telling me it would take over a year to recover from the damage done to my body. The next three days I had to learn to use a walker just to stand up and sit down to toilet. This is difficult for me to express the humiliation this was and is for me to not be able to take care of myself in such an intimate way. Not being able to go to the bathroom without help is very difficult. I am still having having control of issues which keeps me from going to work as a substitute teacher. I was working 3 to 4 days a week. This income is an important part of my ability to pay my bills. ( I dearly miss the students!!)
As you know without a steady income I am now financially in need of help until I am able to go back to work. I AM WORKING HARD to do what it takes to recover. I am walking better but still shaky. I require a walker if nothing to hold onto. I have muliple neurological appointments out of town requiring 3 hours each way with overnight stays. I need to have someone drive me as I am not safe to drive those distances alone.
This is NOT easy for me but I really could use some help so I focus on doing what I need to do to get better!
I am forever grateful for all the prayers and any financial help you can provide.
