Seizures and a Collapsed Lung
Donation protected
Michael Shackelford recently experienced a series of unfortunate life-threatening health issues. He was teaching at Birmingham School of Music until he was recently laid off because he was unable to make it to work as a result of having frequent seizures and a spontaneous pneumothorax. A pneumothorax is a collapsed lung caused by tiny bubbles referred to as blebs on lungs that pop and immediately deflate a lung like a popped balloon. The cause is currently unknown, but the doctors claim it is a genetic condition found in some tall white skinny males and in this case it is most likely due to stress. Seeing as Michael isn't the lazy type and has always worked extreme hours, this feels most likely to be the case. He had surgery and is continuing to book shows and aims to start teaching music lessons again very soon if his health will allow it. Donations will go towards catching up on bills, recovery expenses, and taking care of his family.
