Recovery from a Devastating Car Fire

Hi everyone, my name is Tyler Kustusch and as you might have seen on ABC 7 news, I recently went through a traumatic experience where my car blew up on the way to a volleyball tournament. I never imagined I would find myself in the position of having to ask for help like this, but life has thrown an unexpected and devastating curveball my way.

In mid-October, just five days after acquiring a new car, I found myself driving when it suddenly began to malfunction on the highway. After frantically pulling over, my car started to set on fire. Acting swiftly, I evacuated the vehicle, but unfortunately, it exploded, resulting in the loss of all my possessions still in the car.

2 weeks later Toyota issued a recall due to fire risks associated with the installation of replacement batteries, affecting over 1.8 million RAV4 models from 2013 to 2018. Despite numerous attempts to seek help from Toyota, we have yet to receive any compensation. While our insurance has provided some support, it falls short of covering the full purchase value of the car, and they also declined coverage for the $1500 worth of possessions lost in the fire.
