Recovery Fund for Michael
As many of you know, Michael is an experienced climber in the Piedmont area, working at Rock Box and pioneering Climb Winston-Salem.
While climbing Pilot Mountain on Saturday, August 1st, Michael suffered a 20-30 foot fall after a gear failure where two cams blew and the rock face gave out. He is currently at Baptist Hospital with a fractured sternum, a fractured tibia/fibula in one leg, and a deep wound in the other leg requiring multiple stitches. As of August 2nd the leg bones have been reset, but doctors and surgeons estimate he may need two weeks of hospitalization to fully clean and repair all the damage.
Everyone who knows Michael knows he is passionate about making climbing accessible to all, and would extend an invite to anyone that expressed a desire to climb. We are asking for prayers and donations during this difficult time, especially as Michael is without health insurance. All gifts would greatly help as Michael embarks on a path to recovery. If you have questions or want to send a message to him feel free to reach out via phone or Facebook. Due to COVID restrictions, visitation at Baptist Hospital is severely limited. Thank you all ❤️
