Recovery of work tools from Theft during Graduation
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Kirsten, and I am hoping to get some help from my friends and peers to recoup the the lost tech items from the car theft that occurred while we were in San Francisco to Attend our Graduation.
The story: Matt and I finally made it through our MFA Programs at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. We traveled there for the commencement ceremony with Korra and Finn, as well as with Matts family. The night of our arrival proved awful. Although we went as a family on the Alcatraz Night Tour, our rental cars were burglarized in a parking lot while we were there. The thieves were quick and efficient, they smashed windows and grabbed the smaller bags: my backpack that had everything that I took with me in it, Korra’s backpack and Finn’s Switch. As well as Matt’s sister’s work backpack from her vehicle.
After dealing with SFPD and the rental companies, I used the “Find My” tool to track my iPad from my bag. It led me to an address in Oakland CA, where we called the Oakland PD for dispatch and then we discovered our bags and clothes and personal items, in a pile on the sidewalk. Although we were able to recover our clothes, bags and toiletries, sadly all of the tech was gone.
what they took: my work iPad Pro, Korra’s Working and school laptop, Steamdeck, AirPod Max headphones, and Nintendo Switch, Finn’s Nintendo Switch, Missy’s work laptop and Matt’s Mothers laptop.
Even with insurance, the amount of money that we will receive to replace these items is only going to be around $500, after deductibles.
I am asking for any kind of help in recouping these valuable tools that can be offered.
I keep trying to think of the graduation achievement with joy and successes, however this incident has seriously set us back on our abilities to create and work in a mobile manner.
If you can help, thank you so much!
If you can’t help, please share across social media to help in that way.
Blessings and Love-Kirsten, Matt, Korra, and Finn.
Update! Thank you all so much so far. Finn has his coping tool(Switch) Replaced
