Red Card Project

My name is Kristin Munoz, and I’m from Mooresville, North Carolina. In light of recent events in America, I’ve been seeking ways to make a difference in my community. When I learned about upcoming Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids, I wanted to support my friends and family in asserting their rights. That’s when I discovered the Immigration Legal Resource Center (ILRC) through a TikTok video.
The ILRC provides free, printable cards outlining an individual’s rights on one side and a prepared statement on the other. This statement can be presented to ICE or law enforcement officers, informing them that the cardholder is asserting their legal rights. These cards are available in multiple languages, but I focused on Spanish to address the needs of my community.
When I needed to print the cards, I had a heartwarming interaction with a sales associate who refused to let me pay for my order. She understood how powerful these cards could be in protecting someone during a difficult moment. Inspired by her generosity, I shared my story on TikTok, never expecting more than my usual 300 views. To my surprise, the response was overwhelming.
The incredible response made me realize I had the opportunity to help so many more people. That’s why I’ve decided to start this **GoFundMe** campaign. While the ILRC website allows you to order these cards, they arrive uncut and unlaminated, leaving additional work to make them durable and ready to use. My goal is to ensure that people who may not be tech-savvy, don’t have the time, or simply want a quick and easy way to distribute these within their families can access them without additional effort.
It’s important to note that people have carried these kinds of rights cards for years, and this isn’t a new idea. What I’m doing is creating a push due to the urgent circumstances we’re facing as a country right now. The funds will be used to purchase supplies like paper, lamination sheets, poly mailers, and rubber bands, as well as cover travel expenses to distribute the cards. I also want to build a system to take requests and ship the cards to those in need. If funding allows, I’d love to bring on additional helpers to ensure we can reach as many people as possible.
The need is urgent—ICE raids are happening right now, and we must act quickly to get these cards into the hands of every immigrant, DACA recipient, or U.S. citizen at risk of being unfairly targeted.
I want to be clear: none of the funds raised will go into my pocket. This is about helping my community and protecting vulnerable individuals. Your contributions will directly support this initiative.
To those who have already donated through Venmo or purchased items from my Amazon wishlist—thank you. Anyone who even takes time to read this, please know you are creating real change. Together, we can ensure that everyone has the tools to stand up for their rights and be on the right side of history.
If you live in the Lake Norman area and want to help me with this, please reach out.
